The trust of our customers is our greatest asset. To preserve and foster it, is essential for the success of Tipico. Sports fans very deliberately select our products because consumer protection is accorded the highest priority at Tipico. We have developed an extensive player protection concept that is based on empirical data, and which offers each customer the specific protection they individually need. The key areas of our protective concept are player protection, the protection of children and young people, data protection, and the protection of customers’ assets.
Tipico takes its responsibilities towards vulnerable individuals seriously. Therefore, we have formulated our guidelines within a binding Player Protection concept . Our protective measures are evidence-based and are directed towards the specific protection requirement of each individual customer. The effectiveness of the concept is evaluated continuously, and we constantly improve our protective measures on the basis of the evidence gained. We regularly share the results of our evaluation with regulatory authorities and make them publicly available here. We help our customers to make a self-determined, informed gambling decision at any time, and we ensure that they have the best possible level of control over their gambling behavior. To this end, we provide clear information about issues such as the probability of winning and risk awareness. In addition, our customer can, at any time, also see all their incoming and outgoing payments, alongside all their account transactions.
We offer our customers simple options to actively control their gambling behavior and set voluntary limits. These limits place restrictions on personal gambling behavior, and ensure their compliance. Since individual gambling behavior varies from one person to the next, Tipico also offers individual ways for setting the required limits.
At Tipico, customers may set either limited or unlimited self-exclusions at any time. Exclusions may also be imposed if precisely defined stipulations are fulfilled.
Alongside our own protective measures, we also provide relevant information about external advice services. We work with leading German-speaking research institutions to continuously advance the development and optimization of our player protection measures.
Sports betting and games of chance are entertainment products for adults. The seamless implementation of the statutory rules on the protection of children and young people therefore counts as one of our highest priorities. Tipico carries out multi-level identity and age checks both online and offline in the stationary betting shops. Tipico is also aware of addressing potential customers in a responsible manner through its advertising. With our Group-wide “Tipico Advertising Policy”, we define standards that ensure the protection of minors and the integrity of sport.
Our customers’ data is securely protected at Tipico. Thanks to appropriate software solutions, we ensure that sensitive information is only ever communicated in encrypted form. Sensitive Data is transferred by means of an SSL certificate, which guarantees the highest level of security. This is how we guarantee that unauthorized persons cannot access personal data, such as bank account details. At Tipico, our customers’ data is securely stored in a system certified by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with the international standard, ISO 27001. We strictly ensure our compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and we only store personal data for as long as this is legally prescribed.
Our customers’ assets are in safe hands at Tipico. We take our responsibility for incoming betting payments seriously, and our control mechanisms for incoming and outgoing payments are closely coordinated with the official regulators. Tipico securely posts stakes to accounts monitored by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), and which are managed separately from Tipico’s own company accounts. Tipico also undergoes independent reviews, as the state gambling license means that Tipico is subject to external controls.

The majority of the Tipico Shops now receive their energy from renewable energy sources. Compared to using conventional electricity, this means that Tipico reduces the harmful emissions of carbon dioxide by more than 1,000 tons per year. Reducing business travel by car and plane also helps us to lower our Group’s CO2 balance. For many internal meetings, Tipico uses modern communication tools to keep the business travel of its staff to a minimum.
Our environmental protection measures also focus on our day-to-day work. Throughout the entire Tipico Group, our efforts are on reducing the volume of waste created. All our employees are provided with a recyclable water bottle to prevent the use of single use plastic bottles. The Group also has internal guidelines informing Tipico’s workforce of their personal responsibility to protect the environment, and focus work groups continuously examine other areas for potential optimization.
Furthermore, Tipico uses the TCFD recommendations to increase transparency regarding climate-related risks and opportunities with the help of a globally accepted and supported framework.
